Kids need to explore and take risks while they are young.. it helps them develop skills that will last a lifetime. Falling over when you are small and learning lessons then, is much better than doing so when you are 30 and breaking bones... Although an extreme example.. this just illustrates one of the advantages to learning skills at a young age and there are many more.. How much do we damage our kids by protecting them too much when they are small...? (They do need to need to have some supervision... but how much is too much?)
